Alternativa to consider joining Zaev’s gov’t next week

Alternativa to consider joining Zaev’s gov’t next week
Skopje, 16 November 2021 (MIA) – Alternativa next week will decide whether it should join the new parliamentary majority and the decision as to whether the party will become part of the government will be made after a meeting between party leader Afrim Gashi and Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. A debate is under way within the party, which is expected to produce a decision on the matter, Gashi has told MKD.mk web-portal. Alternativa’s Central Board will meet on Nov. 23, party member Zeqirija Ibrahimi told Plusinfo web-portal adding the decision made by the party body should be confirmed by Alternativa’s assembly, the party’s highest body. “We remain in opposition for now, but we will reveal our position after every new challenge,” Ibrahimi has said. Speculation as to whether Alternativa will join the Zoran Zaev-led government started mounting last week after VMRO-DPMNE’s attempt to form new parliamentary majority failed as well as the initiative for no-confidence vote against Zaev’s cabinet. Currently, Alternativa is in coalition with the Alliance for Albanians.
