Alternativa rejects Mickoski’s proposal for Gashi as PM-designate
Skopje, 17 December 2021 (MIA) – Alternativa has rejected a proposal presented Friday by VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, who called on Alternativa leader Afrim Gashi to be the prime minister-designate in charge of forming a government instead of the new SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski.
The proposal is unacceptable because the party is part of another process, Alternativa has told MIA.
“We thank Mr. Mickoski for his respect expressed for president Afrim Gashi, but Alternativa at the moment is in an ongoing process. At this point, we have no reason to and we cannot talk about anything else,” party sources said.
Speaking at a news conference, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski has proposed DUI that it should support the idea of Alternativa’s Afrim Gashi being the prime minister-designate, instead of the new SDSM leader, by providing signatures of at least 61 MPs. He also called on the opposition parties of the Albanian political bloc to support the proposal for Albanian premier.
The Alliance for Albanians said it will support such a motion, whereas DUI said that only its leader Ali Ahmeti can put forward such a proposal “and no other party, especially not VMRO-DPMNE.”
