Alliance for Albanians central assembly adopts motion to dismiss Taravari as party president
- A motion to dismiss Arben Taravari as Alliance for Albanians president was adopted by the party's Central Assembly held in Skopje on Saturday.
Skopje, 10 February 2024 (MIA) — A motion to dismiss Arben Taravari as Alliance for Albanians president was adopted by the party's Central Assembly held in Skopje on Saturday.
Former AA president and current Central Assembly chair Zijadin Sela announced the news at a press conference that followed the meeting.
"We waited for party president Taravari to come where should have been and where he belongs, which is at this Central Assembly as the highest authority between two Congresses. He didn't come," Sela said.
His absence rendered the first item on the agenda — according to which the party leader needed to discuss the latest developments in the party — "pointless," Sela said, so attendees decided to consider and debate a motion to dismiss Taravari from the post of AA president according to Article 48 of the party's Statute.
Out of the 108 AA members present at the central assembly, 106 voted to support the motion. One was against and one abstained.
"As a result," Sela said, "the party will convene a Congress on Feb. 18, where it will decide on the AA central assembly's motion to dismiss the party's president Taravari." mr/
