Skopje, 20 September 2025 (MIA) - Health Minister Azir Aliu and Deputy Minister Jovica Andovski greeted participants at the opening of the 27th Trade Union School of the Independent Union for Health, Pharmacy, and Social Care, the Ministry of Health stated.

“Over 1,250 jobs have been filled in 85 public health institutions across the country in record time, as part of our strategic process to strengthen the healthcare workforce. In parallel, we are carrying out the recruitment of private specialists, resolving a decades-long existential challenge for this category of health workers. The Independent Union for Health, Pharmacy, and Social Care is our partner in these efforts to improve the status of every healthcare professional in the country,” Minister Aliu said in a video address.

He also added that the government has raised healthcare workers’ salaries significantly, with a net increase of Mden 4,815 for all health professionals and Mden 6,200 for nurses. According to him, this measure essentially values the work of medical staff.

According to Deputy Minister Andovski, the Ministry of Health remains open to working with the union.

“We respect the work and dignity of doctors and all personnel responsible for citizens’ health. By cooperating with the union, we will jointly continue to address all challenges and open issues, for the benefit of healthcare workers and patients,” Andovski noted.
