Aliu: Register of human resources in health institutions in pipeline

Skopje, 21 November 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Health has launched a process of data analysis of the current state of human resources in public and private health institutions across the country.

Health Minister Azir Aliu told a press conference on Friday that the process of setting up a register of health staff has started, aimed at monitoring trends related to human resources in the sector, including retirements, new employments, specializations, and transfers to other health institutions.

According to the analysis, there are 3,779 health institutions nationwide, of which 2,942 are part of the network of health institutions, with the remaining 837 operating beyond this network.

"Regarding the 2,942 health institutions, 2,830 of them are private, while 112 are public. The number of employees in the public and private sector is 32,383 of whom 18,536 in public health institutions, while 13,847 in private," said Minister Aliu.

There are 4,746 doctors in public health, 7,003 nurses, while the remaining are medical and nonmedical staff.

Aliu said policies cannot operate without data and that is why the project is analyzing all levels of healthcare, distribution across municipalities and regions, classification per specialty, profile and type of institution.

"This analysis resulted from a thorough institutional process of cross-matching from a number of institutions - Central Register, Employment Agency, Doctors' Chamber, Dental Chamber, Pharmaceutical Chamber, E-Health Administration and Health Insurance Fund.
