Skopje, 30 July 2025 (MIA) – Parliament adopted Tuesday amendments to the Law on Tourism Activity to discontinue the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism. As the abolished agency winds down, its functions and resources are being redistributed to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
According to Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov, some 30 employees of the agency will be transferred to the ministry's tourism department shortly after the decision is published in the Official Gazette.
"We have provided them with new premises – the first two floors of the Ministry of Energy building," Ljutkov told reporters, adding that the move would cut down on costs and give staff beter working conditions.
He said the 10 milllion euro budget of the soon-to-be-defunct Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism will go to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The money will be used to finance projects of the Film Agency, Ljutkov said, as well as the restoration of Ohrid's Plaoshnik and Kale, the Skopje Fortress. mr/
