Skopje, 18 February 2024 (MIA) - Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani is staying in Bern, Switzerland on Sunday, where he visited the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia. During his visit, he provided an additional mobile station to expedite the issuance of travel documents for our citizens, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On Saturday, Osmani delivered an extra mobile station to the consular department in Bonn, Germany.

At the Embassy in Bern, alongside other consular services for our citizens, photography and biometric data collection for issuing travel documents are conducted through the main station. Starting today, an additional mobile station is also being put into operation alongside the main station.

"I came here to encourage the diplomats who serve around 300 of our citizens daily and to oversee the process of issuing new travel documents. I provided another mobile station, which means that here in Bern, we are operating with two stations simultaneously. This means that two teams are simultaneously taking photos and issuing new travel documents," Osmani said.

As in our diplomatic and consular offices in Brussels, Bonn, and Berlin, the Embassy in Bern also reorganized its work in the consular section with the aim of reducing the service delivery time, ensuring that our citizens receive travel documents as quickly as possible, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

“Challenges continue everywhere due to the ongoing emergency situation. A facilitating factor is Switzerland's decision to permit our citizens to travel with their old passports. Nevertheless, we have reorganized with additional diplomats, working in two shifts, and operating during weekends,” Osmani noted.

From Switzerland, Osmani will head to the consulate in Venice, aiming to closely acquaint himself with the situation and implement the reorganization to better serve the interests of our citizens in Italy.
