Skopje, 20 February 2023 (MIA) - About 1,400 kilograms of different types of drugs and about 270 pieces of weapons seized last year were destroyed Monday night at the "Makstil" factory.  

This is the second time in six months that seized drugs and weapons are destroyed, making a total of about 12 tons of various drugs destroyed.

"The destruction of drugs and weapons today, just like before, is the result of large number of constant operations and activities that the Ministry of Interior has been carrying out in the past few years with the aim of preventing illegal trade in drugs and drug precursors, as seen by the fact that in 2022 we seized a record of over 2.4 tons of drugs and 20 tons of precursors. Twelve organized criminal groups were suppressed with more than 660 crimes and 770 perpetrators of crimes discovered," Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said Monday. 

He pointed out that there has been an increase of 18 percent in the fight against illegal arms trade and that 127 weapons and 5,103 pieces of ammunition have been discovered.
