Abdiu-Halili - Gerasimov: North Macedonia and Moldova's goal is EU membership by 2030

Skopje, 26 April 2024 (MIA) - Drita Abdiu-Halili, State Secretary at the Secretariat for European Affairs, met Friday with Deputy Prime Minister for European integration of Moldova, Cristina Gherasimov, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.
According to Abdiu-Halili, they discussed the cooperation and technical assistance that the country can offer Moldova and Ukraine, two Eastern European partners, who recently opened accession negotiations with EU.
"Moldova highly appreciates our knowledge and experience that we as a country have regarding the negotiations process, taking into consideration the positive assessment after concluding the screening process with the European Commission," Gherasimov said.
The State Secretary told Gerasimov that a prerequisite for successful and efficient negotiations process is an expansive and stable state consensus in terms of EU membership.
Interlocutors agreed that Russia's aggression and war in Ukraine has created a new moment for EU, pushing expansion at the top of the European agenda, and EU membership as our mutual goal. We are prepared, Abdiu Halili and Gerasimov stressed, for mutual cooperation in achieving this goal, full EU membership by 2030. ssh/
