AA's Driton Nebiu reports physical assault by party member

Tetovo, 5 February 2024 (MIA) - Director of the Agency for Management of Confiscated Property, Driton Nebiu, has reported to the Tetovo police a physical assault that took place at a dining facility which he visited together with members of the Alliance for Albanians (AA) after the party's press conference on Sunday. The Tetovo police confirmed that the case was reported at 7:40 pm on Sunday.

"After finishing the party activities, I went to the Sedra dining facility to have dinner together with fellow party members. At one point, a person whom I did not know came to our table and assaulted me, also using life-threatening words. He said to me who do you think you are to deal with VMRO? Then I received information that his name is Krenar Osmani. I believe the institutions will take measures," Dritan Nebiu told web portal in Albanian language Nistori.

The Tetovo police said measures are being taken to clear up the case.

According to the reports of media in Albanian language, the attacker is considered a close associate and supporter of Taravari, while Nebiu supported Zijadin Sela's initiative on Sunday.

AA leader Arben Taravari sought late Saturday support from the party over joining the opposition parties of ethnic Albanians for the upcoming elections.

On the other hand, former AA leader and president of the party's Central Assembly, Zijadin Sela, said AA will run alone at the elections, noting that a final decision will be made at the party's assembly on Saturday. Sela also said that responsibility will be sought for Taravari, over disobeying the party's statute.
