Skopje, 20 October 2025 (MIA) - Mayors were elected in 44 municipalities in the first round of the local elections, while a second round will be held in 33. In three municipalities, the first round will be repeated because of low turnout.

According to data from the State Election Commission, mayors were elected in the first round in Berovo, Bitola, Bosilovo, Butel, Vasilevo, Vevchani, Veles, Gazi Baba, Gevgelija, Gjorche Petrov, Gradsko, Delchevo, Demir Hisar, Zelenikovo, Ilinden, Jegunovce, Kavadarci, Karbinci, Kisela Voda, Kratovo, Novaci, Novo Selo, Ohrid, Petrovec, Pehčevo, Prilep, Radovish, Resen, Sveti Nikole, Sopishte, Strumica, Shtip, Arachinovo, Zhelino, Saraj, Tearce, Chair, Bogdanci, Kriva Palanka, Krivogashtani, Gostivar, Lipkovo, Plasnica, and Chashka.

Voting in the second round will take place in the following municipalities: Aerodrom, Brvenica, Valandovo, Vinica, Debarca, Demir Kapija, Dojran, Zrnovci, Karposh, Kichevo, Konche, Kochani, Makedonska Kamenica, Makedonski Brod, Mogila, Negotino, Probishtip, Rankovce, Cheshinovo-Obleshevo, Bogovinje, Debar, Dolneni, Tetovo, Krushevo, Lozovo, Rosoman, Centar, Chucher Sandevo, Struga, Shuto Orizari, Kumanovo, Studenichani, and the City of Skopje.

The first round will be repeated in Centar Zhupa, Mavrovo and Rostushe and Vrapchishte, as the required voting threshold of one-third of registered voters was not reached.

It remains unclear if a second round will be held in Staro Nagorichane, since the current leading candidate has received 50.00 percent of the vote.
