30,000 toll cards distributed so far to Serbian nationals transiting North Macedonia
Skopje, 14 July 2021 (MIA) – Latest data shows that over 30,000 cards have been distributed to Serbian nationals exempt from paying toll while transiting North Macedonia, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said on Wednesday.
He stressed that this is a gesture of friendship, reiterating that the government made this decision to thank Serbia for the efforts it put in vaccinating Macedonian nationals.
Regarding the ‘One Stop Shop’ system, Spasovski told reporters that the system is being upgraded, as the agreement entails controls be performed by both the Macedonian and Serbian police.
“Analysis are underway aiming to establish a legal framework for control at entry and exit points. There has been improvement, but there is more work to be done. We’re in constant communication with the Serbian Interior Ministry to remove obstacles and promote the movement of people and goods,” said Minister Spasovski.
He visited on Wednesday together with Republic Council on Road Traffic Safety president Gordana Kozhuvarovska the Tabanovce border crossing, as part of the “Drive Rested” campaign.
Spasovski briefed reporters that there are talks for implementing similar projects with other neighboring countries in order to, as he added, improve movement in the region.
