Skopje, 29 July 2025 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE MPs will back the no confidence motion against Chief Prosecutor, Ljupcho Kocevski, filed by the opposition Levica MPs.
VMRO-DPMNE's whip in Parliament, Nikola Micevski, told a press conference on Tuesday that there is no longer room for compromises with failure and it is time for responsibility.
"Institutions, in cooperation with the prosecution, have been silent for years in the face of huge scandals, many of which were caused by the top of SDS and DUI, and are well known to the public. Those cases have not and must not be forgotten - rather, they are still an open wound of this society today. And the public prosecution has remained indifferent and passive in the face of those sources of injustice. That is why we believe that the chance given to Ljupcho Kocevski has already been wasted. He did not justify the support he received. Instead of reform and integrity - we got silence and servility to the government that was defeated by the people. Therefore, VMRO-DPMNE will back the no confidence motion, in the interest of principles, the citizens and justice. There is no longer room for compromises with failure. It is time for responsibility," he said.
Micevski pointed out that the party's commitment to an uncompromising fight against corruption and organized crime remains firm, consistent and unwavering.
"Regardless of the essential and major differences that exist between VMRO-DPMNE and the political party Levica - especially in terms of their political course and cooperation with SDS - our commitment to an uncompromising fight against corruption and organized crime remains firm, consistent and unwavering. That fight must not depend on political calculations or on current partners in the opposition or the ruling party. That fight should be guided by principles and convictions - that the state must finally get a functional, independent and courageous prosecution system, which will not keep silent in the face of obvious crime, which will not tremble in the face of political pressure, and which will not become an accomplice of those who undermined the state," said Micevski.
