Skopje, 21 November 2022 (MIA) – A "kids take over" friendly football match between children, professional players from the national representation, players from Special Olympics and officials will take place Monday organized by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) on World Children’s Day, celebrated on November 20. This “kids take over” football match that will take place in the Boris Trajkovski sports centre, will bring attention to issues important to children - equal opportunities, quality education, healthy environment, and mental health for every child. The football match is organized as part of joint campaign of the UNICEF and FFM under the slogan “We are all one team” which is a call for all to come together for children’s rights. PM Dimitar Kovachevski, UNICEF Representative Patrizia DiGiovanni and FFM Director Deni Masev will address the event. Taking place every year on November 20, World Children’s Day highlights critical issues affecting children’s lives and supports the engagement of children and young people as advocates for their own rights. “This year, World Children’s Day falls on the same day as the official start of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 providing partners a unique opportunity to put children’s issues at the top of the global agenda,” UNICEF said in a press release. World Children's Day is a call to action to draw attention to issues important to children and to create a fairer, inclusive world for every child. UNICEF and partners are calling on the whole of society to help support activities aimed at quality health care and nutrition for every child, as well as protection from vaccine-preventable diseases; quality and inclusive education for every child including increased investment and improved efficiency and equity in spending on education; programmes that promote the mental health and well-being of children and young people; a healthy environment and a fair chance for every child, which involves actions to tackle discrimination and exclusion so that no child is left behind because of disability, poverty, ethnicity or gender.
