"Determined for Change": All change begins with Centar; we're the spring of Skopje

Skopje, 15 October 2021 (MIA) — LDP and DOM’s “Determined for Change” candidates for councilors and mayors are guardians of their municipalities, putting citizens first, said LDP leader Goran Milevski at the final rally of their local election campaign and urged supporters “to protect Centar and to protect Skopje and all municipalities throughout Macedonia.” “Centar has to think differently. To put an end to cementing everything. To build according to plan. To have humane living conditions. To consider citizens instead of building in the interest of individuals. Centar deserves Dr. Novotni to be the mayor of Centar,” Milevski said at the Kapishtec rally on Friday evening. “Let us all vote with determination,” he added, “and put an end to this grayness once and for all.” DOM leader Maja Morachanin said changes started with Centar. “We, the people of Centar, are rebels, so all changes begin from Centar,” Morachanin said. “The people of Centar will vote with determination. We are here to make changes for the better, for our children to have a better life, for them not to leave but to stay here where their memories tie them to. “I’m glad the green agenda is becoming a priority of all political parties,” she continued. “But do you know the difference? They talk and make promises, but they don’t keep them. “We all deserve clean air and tidy parks, not only in Skopje but in all cities in Macedonia. Let’s make every municipality a home of happy people with a healthy and bright future. Let’s all go out on Oct. 17 and vote,” Morachanin said. The movement’s candidate for mayor of Centar, Antoni Novotni, said there was no more red and blue – theirs was now a purple movement that would bring about changes. “There are many of us who are dissatisfied and apathetic,” Novotni said. “We stopped believing things could change. But that's why I'm here, to change Centar; to make it a green municipality. We are the spring of Centar, we are the spring of Skopje, we are the spring of the political center, the two parties united.” “We will make every decision about the municipality through a referendum,” he promised. Skopje city council candidate Nikola Panovski said the country had a bright future ahead with young people moving things in the right direction. “I’m sure the movement is growing regardless of parties,” Panovski said. “We are the third option, which will make changes.” Urging citizens to vote in the Sunday local elections, he added, “Remember: Changes come from Skopje.” Center municipal councilor candidate Evdokija Taseska said councilors should be the guardians of their municipality, because municipalities were where education, economy, budgeting, environment, and urban planning were happening, so they needed to focus on protecting the interests of citizens. mr/
