Zelensky decorates Croatian PM and FM on Ukrainian Independence Day

Zagreb, 25 August 2025 (Hina/MIA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman for their significant contribution in supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

 

Plenković was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 1st Degree, while Grlić Radman received the Order of Merit, 2nd Degree.

 

On the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, Zelensky published a list of around two hundred foreign officials who were decorated with honors of various categories.

 

In an official statement from the Office of the Ukrainian President, it was noted that the awards were given for significant personal contributions to boosting intergovernmental cooperation, supporting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, charitable activities, and the promotion of the Ukrainian state around the world.

 

Apart from Croatian PM Plenković, the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 1st Degree was bestowed on the Presidents of Portugal, Finland, and the Czech Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Alexander Stubb and Petr Pavel respectively, as well as on the Prime Ministers of the Netherlands, Norway, and Moldova, Hendrikus Wilhelmus Maria Schoof, Jonas Gahr Støre and Dorin Recean, respectively.

 

Grlić Radman was awarded a decoration similar to those received by, among others, the Latvian Foreign Minister, the Norwegian Defense Minister, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mariano Grossi, and the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann.
