Skopje, 19 May 2026 (MIA) - There is no formula for swift transition of an education system from the stage of early development to excellence. Time and commitment is needed to achieve the previosuly set realistic objectives and clearly defined evidence-based policies. The Macedonian government is doing just that - education policies are based on analyses and efficiency is determined through measurable criteria, Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska told a panel dedicated to evidence use in education policy within the Education World Forum in London on Tuesday.

"Nowadays there are large data at our disposal and it is important they are analysed and policies are designed accordingly. Technology, especially AI, helps us in collecting and processing, but the human factor is most important in the process and cannot be replaced," said Minister Janevska.

Panel speakers from Guinea, OECD and ClassLink agreed that although institutions in many countries are not obligated to collect and use evidence in policy creation, this still ensures the process' legitimacy, the Ministry of Education and Science said in a press release.

The Education World Forum is the world’s largest annual gathering of education and skills ministers, offering a unique, peer-to-peer, invitation-only platform for open and candid dialogue, held this year under the slogan "Educating for a shared future: Peace, planet, purpose and pathways".
