Zelensky exits White House early after public blow-up with Trump

Washington, 28 February 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was seen leaving the White House early after a meeting with US President Donald Trump that devolved into a public shouting match.

Zelensky was seen on television getting into a car parked in front of the West Wing and driving away on Friday.

His departure came after a heated exchange with Trump inside the Oval Office, where the US president ripped into him as "disrespectful" and "gambling with World War Three."

Trump told Zelensky to make a deal with Russia "or we're out."

Zelensky said that there would be "no compromises with a killer on our territory" and suggested Trump was risking US security with his warm approach to Russia.

Trump, a short while later when the television cameras were away, wrote on social media that Zelensky can "come back when he is ready for peace."

US media reported that the leaders broke off their closed-door meeting and cancelled a press conference that had been scheduled.
