Zaev welcomes improvement in press freedom

Skopje, 3 May 2023 (MIA) — The Reporters Without Borders latest press freedom index ranking North Macedonia 38th out of 180 countries confirms the country has been on the right track since the Social Democrats overthrew the regime in 2017, former prime minister Zoran Zaev wrote on Facebook.

"The freedom of the press is one of the most important values and achievements we fought for, starting to conquer it during the time when we were overthrowing the regime.

"We should be proud that for the seventh year, media freedoms are noticeably and steadily rising," Zaev wrote.

Congratulating media workers, authorities and the public for being committed to freedom and democracy, he said he was convinced this would bring a permanent change in society. mr/
