YFA Automotiv to produce airbag inflators in North Macedonia
Skopje, 25 October 2022 (MIA) – Airbag inflators will be produced in YFA Automotiv in Skopje 1 free zone, a new factory which is a joint American-Chinese investment by Yanfeng and ARC. The investment will create 100 new jobs, and produce inflators to be exported to the European market. “It is not easy to attract investments at present, especially after the Covid pandemic and especially during the war in Ukraine and the current difficult economic conditions, but our approach has shown the opposite is true because we are opening new production capacities. According to the management, the new investment will be worth EUR 30 million and will create 100 new jobs,” said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski at the opening ceremony. He emphasized the importance of good working conditions and the creation of good economic policies which, he said, are showing results, growth, development and a successful tackling of the crisis. Jovan Despotovski, head of the Free Zones Authority, said the country has shown it knows how to be a dignified partner for companies such as ARC and Yanfeng, as evidenced by the 30-million-euro investment. “We have demonstrated that even a small country like North Macedonia can attract serious global players not with money, not with force, not with expensive campaigns, but with a smart approach, by listening to and understanding the needs of our partners. The new investment will provide decent working conditions and wages for 100 of our citizens,” said Despotovski. The ceremony was attended by US Deputy Chief of Mission Eric Meyer, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Zuo, as well as the senior management of the investing companies. ad/nn/
