Skopje, 8 April 2024 (MIA) - Caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi extended a greeting Monday to the Roma community of North Macedonia on the occasion of April 8 – International Romani Day.

“April 8 is a day we mark in your honor, dear compatriots from the Roma community, because you, like all citizens, are an unbreakable and natural part of this country and society. You too, alongside all citizens, feel the joys, as well as the difficult days and situations that life brings. You contribute with what you can, you work to improve the situation in every field and are committed to securing a better future for our shared country, our society and future generations,” Xhaferi said in his greeting.

This day, the PM said, is a recognition and affirmation by the state, institutions, your compatriots and society, that you are an integral part of the entire context.

“As a Government, through the adopted National Strategy on Roma, which is part of the public policies, we are taking measures in specific areas in order to provide a basis for your complete and real integration, because when you yourself are a part of the system, you will be able to improve it, firstly for yourself, and then for society and the state,” Xhaferi said.
