Wandelt on meeting with Bytyqi over potential of German investors in North Macedonia

Skopje, 27 July 2023 (MIA) – The potential of German investors in North Macedonia, the opportunities for additional development of framework conditions and securing qualified workforce, were the key topics discussed at the meeting between the head of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (AHK) in North Macedonia, Antje Wandelt, with Deputy Prime in charge of economic affairs, Fatmir Bytyqi, said Wandelt in a written statement.

“The visit to Deputy PM Fatmir Bytyqi, in charge of economic affairs, brought me inside the ‘white house’ of the Macedonian Government for the first time. We led a constructive dialogue over the potential of German investors in North Macedonia, but also over the opportunities for additional development of the framework conditions. We also spoke about the opportunities for cooperation and securing a qualified workforce, as well as activating the unused potential of the local labor market,” said Wandelt.

Wandelt noted that the meeting was an excellent opportunity to present the upcoming projects of AHK North Macedonia, including the “Suppliers Balkan Expo - SUBEX”, which they will once again organize in Skopje in the fall.

The head of AHK North Macedonia also said they spoke about a diversification of new investments in North Macedonia, increased relevancy from the aspect of long-term sustainability when choosing a market to invest in, as well as green energy and a circular economy. In this context, they also spoke about the need for new educational profiles that would be a part of dual education following the German model.

The Government informed about the meeting between Wandelt and Bytyqi on Tuesday, saying that at the meeting Bytyqi noted that North Macedonia is an attractive destination for Gerrman investments and a very important economic partner, while Germany is its main export market.
