VMRO-DPMNE to have 18 Skopje City Council members; Worth It, NAI, Levica to have 6 each

Skopje, 20 October 2025 (MIA) — With 99.93% of the votes counted by Monday noon, the 45-member Skopje City Council is set to have 18 councilors from VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition. The Worth It coalition, the National Alliance for Integration coalition and Levica will have six councilors each.
SDSM will have five councilors. ZNAM will have one councilor.
Risto Penov from Experience for Success as well as independent candidates Jana Belcheva Andreeska and Marjan Kalevski were also elected Skopje City councilors.
The future mayor of Skopje will either be VMRO-DPMNE's Orce Gjorgjievski or Levica's Amar Mecinovikj, who will face off in the runoff slated for Nov. 2.
According to the State Election Commission, with 99.92% of the votes counted, Gjorgjievski won 91,582 votes (39.43%) and Mecinovikj won 30,659 (13.2%).
NAI's Skender Rexhepi won 26,062 votes (12.22%), the Worth It coalition's Bashkim Bakiu won 27,864 (12%) and SDSM's Kaja Shukova won 26,714 (11.5%). mr/
