Belgrade, 30 April 2023 (MIA) - Serbian Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Goran Vesić the agreement with North Macedonia for the use of Serbian electronic toll collection (ETC) tags on the roads in that country should begin to be implemented as of this summer, MIA’s Belgrade correspondent reported on Sunday.
“We are in contact with the Macedonian partners; they are finalizing all the technical details so that we can soon start using Serbian ETC tag and vice versa for paying road tolls,” Vesić told Radio Television Serbia (RTS).
He also added that negotiations are ongoing for similar agreements with Greece and Croatia and very soon with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Vesić announced that already in May, a decision will be made that will determine exactly the routes along which trucks in transit will be able to pass through Serbia.
“We will determine the routes through which trucks in transit will be able to pass through Serbia and they will no longer be able to get off the highway. They will not be able to avoid paying tolls, nor destroy regional and local roads in our country,” Vesić told RTS.
