Varvitsiotis: Ankara to take example of Athens-Skopje good relations

Skopje, 11 January 2023 (MIA) – Ankara should take the example of good relations between Greece and North Macedonia, which are developing on the grounds of international legitimacy and lead to a prosperous future for both nations, said Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis after a meeting with Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj in Athens on Wednesday.

The Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Varvitsiotis expressed the firm support to the European prospects of North Macedonia and all countries of the Western Balkans.

“Integration will strengthen the region’s stability and security in political, economic and energy terms,” said Varvitsiotis and added that close cooperation among countries can contribute to energy stability in the broader area of Southeast Europe.

Deputy PM Marichikj said today’s meeting sent a message of goodneighborly relations and a common European future.

Greece plays a leadership role in the support of the Western Balkans’ European perspective, says the MFA.
