Washington, 3 June 2024 (dpa/MIA) — US Vice President Kamala Harris is to attend the Ukraine peace summit being held in Switzerland on June 15 and 16, the White House has announced.

Harris' attendance would underscore the US administration's commitment to supporting Ukraine's effort to secure a just and lasting peace, based on its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the principles of the UN Charter, the White House statement said.

"The vice president will reaffirm support for the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves against ongoing Russian aggression," it added.

Harris is to be joined at the summit by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
