Berlin, 7 January 2022 (dpa/MIA) - The United States military is constructing a regional command post in Albania for the deployment of US special forces in the Balkans, the unit's command announced from its European headquarters in Stuttgart on Friday. "The location of the forward HQ in Albania will provide increased interoperability with our Albanian allies, important access to transportation hubs in the Balkans and greater logistical flexibility," Special Operations Command said on its Facebook page. “The ability to rapidly move and train within the Balkans, in close coordination with other allied and partner forces, made Albania the best location for this effort,” Major General David H Tabor, Commander of Special Operations Command Europe, said.
