US sending Ukraine $725 million more in aid

Washington, 3 December 2024 (dpa/MIA) - The United States is sending Ukraine an additional $725 million in military equipment to help the Russian-invaded country with its security and defence needs, the US Department of Defense announced on Monday.

The aid includes advanced surface-to-air and stinger missiles and ammunition for the previously provided High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems or HIMARS. Additional ammunition drones, demolition equipment, spare parts and training are included in the package.

Under US President Joe Biden, the US is the largest supplier of arms to Ukraine. According to the Pentagon, Washington has provided military aid worth more than $61 billion to Kiev since Russia started the war in February 2022.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin informed his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov in a discussion on Monday about the ongoing arms deliveries, the Pentagon said in a separate statement. In January, Republican Donald Trump is set to enter the White House. He has already indicated that he intends to significantly limit support for Ukraine.
