Ursula von der Leyen to visit Skopje
Skopje, 25 October 2022 (MIA) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Skopje on Wednesday, starting a Western Balkans tour to reaffirm the EU's commitment to the European integration of the region, according to Brussels.
The EC President will be welcomed by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski alongside a government delegation on the plateau in front of the Government, said the Government in a press release.Following Skopje, the EC President will travel to Pristina and Tirana on Thursday, Sarajevo and Belgrade on Friday, and Podgorica on Saturday. In addition to the European perspective of the region, the focus of her tour is the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis.
As von der Leyen said last week in Strasbourg, part of the assistance in the area of the energy crisis will be the inclusion of the Western Balkan countries for the joint purchase of energy with the EU countries. This platform aims to strengthen cooperation between countries and reduce competition between countries in the energy market. dk/nn/
