Skopje, 25 January 2024 (MIA) – The Union of Media Information Agencies (SMIA) firmly condemns the verbal attack on MIA’s journalist which occurred after the announcement of the verdict in the “Laskarci” case.

Attacks and threats on journalists represent a direct attack on democracy and the freedom of speech in a society.

Our journalist was verbally attacked on Thursday precisely in the house of justice, while she was carrying out her professional duty – informing the public.

SMIA urges and demands that the institutions sanction the perpetrators in line with the law on media, which characterizes attacks on journalist as attacks on officials.
