UN General Assembly begins, President Siljanovska Davkova to take part at annual Platform of Women Leaders

New York, 24 September 2024 (MIA) - The general debate of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) convened under the theme "Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations" begins in New York on Tuesday.
The UNGA is attended by 133 heads of state and government, three vice-presidents, 80 deputy PMs and 45 ministers, including the Macedonian delegation led by President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova.
At the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden, Siljanovska Davkova will take part in a summit of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats, followed by her participation at the UNGA Platform of Women Leaders event exploring the importance of women’s equal participation in decision-making in ensuring peace, socio-economic opportunities, sustainable development and human dignity.
President Siljanovska Davkova is scheduled to address the UNGA on Wednesday afternoon.
The Macedonian delegation also includes Deputy PM and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski and Health Minister Arben Taravari.
