Ukrainian governor says Russians have retreated from towns in Luhansk
Kiev, 13 September 2022 (dpa/MIA) - Russia's troops are withdrawing from the first towns in the eastern region of Luhansk, according to a Ukrainian official.
"Today, Kreminna is completely empty," the Ukrainian governor of Luhansk, Serhiy Haidai said. "There is no police, no commandant's office, no prosecutor's office - there is no one left, they have all run away."
His statements could not initially be independently verified. But they came a day after Russian military bloggers reported that Ukrainian forces had stormed the village of Bilohorivka.
Bilohorivka is located near the small town of Kreminna on the other bank of the river Siversky Donets.
