Skopje, 10 September 2023 (MIA) – The Macedonian national football team held Italy to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in front of 28.000 fans at the “Todor Proeski” National Arena in Skopje in a 2024 European Championship qualifying match.

Ciro Immobile put Italy ahead in the 47th minute with a header after Nicolo Barella hit the bar.

But the European Champions’ lead was canceled out by midfielder Enis Bardhi who equalized in the 81st minute with a free kick from just outside the box, to the delight of the crowd.

North Macedonia currently sits fourth in group C with four points, Italy is third with the same number of points but with a game in hand. England holds the top spot in the group.

The national team will resume its Euro 2024 qualifying matches with a trip to Malta on Tuesday.
