Turkey donates medical equipment to Tetovo Clinical Hospital
Tetovo, 9 November 2022 (MIA) – The Clinical Hospital in Tetovo received Wednesday a donation of medical equipment worth over EUR 61,000 from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
“TIKA has implemented over 30 projects in the health sector in various cities in North Macedonia. The donated medical equipment increases the capacity of the Department of Thoracic Surgery which provides services for Tetovo and the surrounding areas. We hope that this project will contribute to the improvement of North Macedonia’s health infrastructure,” TIKA’s country coordinator Halim Ömer Söğüt told the donation handover event.
Hospital director Almir Elezi expressed his gratitude for the donation.
“In these conditions and circumstances of a general economic crisis, this is a fairly significant effort from the Turkish people and the TIKA leadership, to support us with this kind of equipment. With this donation, and with the support of the Ministry of Health, we hope that we will be able to raise the level of medical services provided by our institution,” said Elezi.
Health Minister Bekim Sali stressed this is a significant investment that improves the Department of Thoracic Surgery.
“The investment also improves the medical services offered to the patients in this hospital, which offers services to over 150,000 people from the north-western region of the country. In the past period, the hospital has received monitors for intensive care units, new devices for echo-diagnostics, ophthalmology equipment, and we have also initiated the expansion of the hospital’s operations to also provide specialist consultations in the field of thoracic surgery,” said Minister Sali. ad/ik/
