Skopje, 23 June 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovana Trenchevska met Thursday with EU Ambassador David Geer, discussing topics in the field and cooperation on joint projects. Discussions focused on gender equality, protection against discrimination, inclusion of Roma in society, de-institutionalization process, child protection and youth guarantee, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release. “We have witnessed a broad spread of hate speech on social media and more frequent cyber violence. This shows that we must engage together – competent institutions and civil society organizations – and be more active, strengthen the protection of potential victims but also raise the awareness that violence is unlawful and punishable,” said Trenchevska. Discussions also tackled the implementation of the law on prevention and protection from violence against women and domestic violence, drafting of the new law on gender equality, rights of the LGBTI community in the country, and social entrepreneurship. Interlocutors expressed satisfaction from prior cooperation and expressed commitment for continuation of joint projects on issues of enormous significance for the people of North Macedonia, reads the press release.
