Skopje, 5 October 2023 (MIA) - Cooperation of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in advocating for human rights were discussed at Thursday's meeting between Minister Jovanka Trenchevska and UNFPA Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Florence Bauer.

The meeting referred to today's conference "The Power of Choice: Realizing Bodily Autonomy for Women and Girls" high-level regional conference" and the coming conference in Geneva, which are part of the discussions aimed to contribute to the enhanced observance of human rights, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release.

Bauer and Trenchevska also tackled the importance of the Demographic Policy Strategy and the Action Plan that is currently drafted, contributing to the enhancement of the issue of migrations and population aging as a challenge that the country and the region are facing.

In addition, interlocutors discussed the anti-gender movements active in the country and the challenges in finding a common solution. They agreed that North Macedonia's recent progress in ensuring human rights and equality must not stop, whereas partnership support is crucial in this regard, reads the press release.
