Transport Minister Nikoloski meets Hungarian Defense Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky 

Skopje, 1 August 2024 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksandar Nikoloski met Thursday with Hungary’s Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky as part of his official visit to Budapest.

At the meeting, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Nikoloski and Szalay-Bobrovniczky highlighted the good cooperation in defense as an important segment in fulfilling the goals of the NATO alliance and ensuring peace and stability in the region.

“Nikoloski noted that Macedonia is firmly committed to the fulfillment of reform processes and is on the right track to meet the conditions for full-fledged membership in the European Union. Macedonia’s expectations in that process are that the Government of Hungary will ensure continued support for the country,” the Ministry said in a press release.

According to the press release, the ministers affirmed the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed that there are opportunities for further enhancement of relations in areas of mutual interest.

“Nikoloski voiced gratitude for the continued support provided by Hungary to Macedonia and the Macedonian people, especially expressed through the assistance for growth and development of the domestic economy. During the meeting, Hungary’s Defense Minister also voiced firm readiness to secure the necessary equipment for dealing with the wildfires,” the Ministry added.
