Transport minister: Gov’t investing in building safe roads
Makedonska Kamenica, 1 October 2021 (MIA) — The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia is investing in road rehabilitation and building new, modern and safe roads, which have changed the appearance of the east and cut travel time, according to Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski on Friday after inspecting construction works on the road to the village of Cera. “Every municipality is important to us,” Bochvarski said, adding that he and Makedonska Kamenica Mayor Sonja Stamenkova on Friday “inspected the reconstruction of the local road leading to the village of Cera, which had been left in poor condition for years.” “With funds through the Ministry of Transport and Communications, together with the local self-government, we are solving this problem,” he added, pointing out that construction works were already under way and the investment amounted to Mden 16 million (EUR 259,385). This road, he added, was not the only road currently on the Ministry’s priority list. He announced construction works starting next week on the local road to the village of Todorovci, an investment worth almost Mden 13 million (EUR 210,750), he said. “Also,” Bochvarski said, “the Public Enterprise for State Roads has rehabilitated the road between Makedonska Kamenica and the Sasa mine, which is of great importance for the citizens of this region. “I’m glad the construction works have finished completely ahead of the set deadline. “At the moment, we’re working on putting the traffic signals in. The investment is worth EUR 2.27 million.” Mayor Stamenkova said the amount allocated by the World Bank through the Ministry of Transport and Communications was EUR 630,000. The remaining amount of EUR 200,000 would be used to build another street and a regional road chosen as a priority by the citizens of Makedonska Kamenica, she added. mr/
