Traffic: 40-minute wait at Bogorodica border crossing

Skopje, 2 August 2023 (MIA) - Dry road conditions are reported nationwide with increased traffic outside urban areas and no delays at border crossings except at Bogorodica, where drivers can expect to wait up to 40 minutes to exit the country.

 

A driving ban on all commercial vehicles exceeding 15 tons is in effect on all state roads on weekends and on days with extremely high temperatures through August 31.

 

A weekend travel ban has been issued for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons on the A2 Skopje – Ohrid – Skopje route.

 

Due to heavy rainfall and structural damage, one lane of the River Crvenska bridge on the A3 section between Makedonska Kamenica and Delchevo has been closed for repairs. Signs are in place.

 

Skopje's Belasica Bridge, on Belasica Street, is closed until further notice due to structural damage. Drivers should use an alternate route.

 

As of June 14. 2023, there is construction work on the R1303 between Makedonski Brod and Prilep, near the Barbaros pass. Motorists are advised that there will be a 30 km/hour work zone speed limit.

 

Part of the A2 between Kriva Palanka and Deve Bair border crossing has been closed for repairs. A detour is available via R1208 regional road.

 

As of May 8, 2023, the A2 highway section between Skopje and Tetovo will have lane reductions for the construction of a highway noise barrier. Signs are in place.

 

The northbound off-ramp at the A1 highway section between Demir Kapija and Negotino is closed for construction work. A detour is available via R1102 regional road.

 

As of Nov. 3, 2022, traffic is diverted from part of the A4 between Blace and Skopje for road work.

 

Traffic is diverted from several parts of the A2 between Kichevo and Ohrid due to construction work. Signs are in place.

 

Landslides are possible along the routes of Katlanovo – Veles, Mavrovo – Debar – Struga, Vinica – Berovo and Kochani – Delchevo.

 

Motorists are advised to drive carefully, adjust their speed to weather conditions and follow traffic rules, signs and signals.
