Skopje, 14 March 2024 (MIA) — Caretaker Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski held working meetings with the management of the Kumanovo, Kratovo, and Kriva Palanka police departments, according to an official press release.

Meeting participants said the security situation in the entire area was stable and discussed their current activities, the local crime rate, the maintenance of public order and peace as well as the challenges they faced regarding insufficient staffing and inadequate resources, the release notes.

"The general conclusion was that vehicles and other equipment necessary for the efficient operation of the police should be procured as soon as possible," the release says.

At the meetings, Minister Toshkovski also said the organizational structure of the Interior Ministry needed to undergo serious reforms. "Police officers should be properly valued, according to the difficulty of their job duties," he said. mr/
