Kochani, 9 September 2025 (MIA) - Three firefighters injured in the Makprogress factory fire in Vinica have been discharged from the General Hospital in Kochani. The fourth firefighter hospitalized in Kochani has been sent to undergo further examinations at the Clinical Hospital in Shtip, said the acting director of the General Hospital in Kochani, Katerina Panikj Mirchovska, on Tuesday.

Panikj Mirchovska said she hopes for a positive outcome from the examinations, after which the fourth firefighter can be discharged as well.

All firefighters treated so far at the Kochani Hospital have sustained first-degree burns on their lower limbs. They got injured when they got stuck in melted sugar while putting out the fire at the confectionary products factory.

Eight workers at the factory who got injured in the fire were hospitalized at the Toxicology Clinic in Skopje. Several of them will be discharged on Tuesday. The Health Ministry said they are in a stable state.
