Tetovo police detain 19-year-old on suspicion of arson

(19) from Skopje, with a temporary place of residence in Tetovo, who was caught setting fire to cables leading to the railway overpass on Marshal Tito street in Tetovo, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.
Skopje, 15 August 2025 (MIA) - Tetovo police officers on Friday afternoon detained a person identified by the initials S. M. (19) from Skopje, with a temporary place of residence in Tetovo, who was caught setting fire to cables leading to the railway overpass on Marshal Tito street in Tetovo, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.
The fire was extinguished after the intervention of the Tetovo Fire Brigade, and the person identified by the initials S. M. was detained at the police station. Appropriate charges will follow upon completing the documentation on the case.
This is not the first such case of detention over arson. On Thursday at 6:30 pm, police officers from the Kumanovo police detained a person identified by the initials S.S. (57) from Kumanovo, due to reasonable suspicion of having committed the crime of 'causing general danger'. Namely, in the Karposh settlement towards Nikuljski Pat, he caused a fire, burning dry grass, an Audi passenger vehicle, an abandoned house and fields, said the Ministry of Interior.
Two weeks ago, a person identified by the initials A.N. was also detained on suspicion of deliberately setting a fire near the Vodocha dam, Strumica.
These are just some of the cases of detention of people for causing fires that have gripped the country.
