Skopje, 25 August 2021 (MIA) — Teona Strugar Mitevska has been shooting her newest film at the “St. Clement of Ohrid” National and University Library in Skopje. According to producer Labina Mitevska, the crew has "occupied" the library over the past two and a half months and is helping renovate the main reading room to help "return the dignity, glow and life" to the library, she told reporters on Wednesday.
She said the entire film takes place in one room and the crew chose the location "based on the visual aspect of its architecture, which fascinated Teona."
"The people who work here, most of them historians, greeted us with open arms.
"We were disappointed by the state we found the library in, though,” Mitevska said to reporters following an announcement by Minister of Culture Irena Stefoska and the library's director Jelisaveta Kostadinova that the national library would be renovated.
Mitevska said the crew would be shooting at the library for three more weeks before continuing filming in Sarajevo.
The film is produced by Brother and Sisters Mitevski with the support of the Film Agency as a co-production between North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Belgium and Denmark. dk/mr/
