Istanbul, 24 July 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Ten people have died in a forest fire in the western Turkish region of Eskişehir.
Five of them were forest workers and five were from disaster relief, Forest Minister İbrahim Yumaklı said on Wednesday.
Several people are reportedly being treated in hospital. He said the wind suddenly changed direction, which resulted in the volunteers being trapped by the flames.
For days, emergency services have been battling several forest fires in Turkey. Due to the dry conditions, the fires can spread more quickly. Strong winds are making firefighting efforts more difficult.
