Skopje, 11 February 2026 (MIA) — As part of its Winter MakeDox selection, the MakeDox creative documentary film festival will screen "Tata" ("Father," 2024) by Lina Vdovii and Radu Ciorniciuc at MKC's Frosina cinema and the filmmakers will answer audience questions after the screening.
According to organizers, the film is a story about the trauma and legacy of violence, but also about the courage to shatter the silence and begin healing.
"After years of estrangement, Lina, a Moldovan journalist, receives a video message from her father, a migrant worker in Italy. The video shows bruises on his hands," organizers said.
Camera in tow, she sets out for justice as well as for a much deeper, personal truth.
The result is "Tata," an intimate and cruel documentary portrait of a family trapped in a generational pattern of violence, toxic masculinity and silence.
"Filmed across Italy, Moldova, and Romania, 'Tata' is a raw portrait of a family locked in a relentless struggle against toxic masculinity and the tale of a daughter’s poignant quest to break the cycle for herself, the next generation, and even for the one who hurt her," organizers said.
The film was co-produced by Manifest Film and Corso Film. mr/
