Tanec to give Easter concert in tribute to Zavkov

Skopje, 10 April 2023 (MIA) — The National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble Tanec will give its traditional Easter concert at the National Opera and Ballet at 8 pm. This year's concert is dedicated to the ensemble's lead accordionist and composer Milan Zavkov, who suddenly died in February.
According to a Tanec press release, the concert will feature his "Belomorski biser", "Na megdan" and "Ohridski igri" dances choreographed by Simeon Chulev as well as Zavkov's "Kopachija" on which he collaborated with choreographer Stojche Karanfilov.
Milan Zavkov (1962 – 2023) started playing the accordion at the age of eight. He graduated from the Skopje Faculty of Music Arts in double bass. A long-time collaborator of Tanec, Zavkov was a prolific composer and arranger, leaving behind over 150 original works. He was also known as one of the best accordion players in the region. mr/
