Stefan Milenković to perform with Profundis at Philharmonic
- Serbian violinist Stefan Milenković will perform works by Nicolò Paganini, Pablo de Sarasate, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky with the Macedonian chamber orchestra Profundis conducted by Gjurgjica Dashikj at the Philharmonic on Friday evening.
Skopje, 20 September 2024 (MIA) — Serbian violinist Stefan Milenković will perform works by Nicolò Paganini, Pablo de Sarasate, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky with the Macedonian chamber orchestra Profundis conducted by Gjurgjica Dashikj at the Philharmonic on Friday evening.
At a press conference Thursday, Dashikj said the concert would feature complex and challenging works for any musician. Milenkovic expressed his admiration for the chamber orchestra and said together they would play "magnificent classical music by composers who marked the last century."
Stefan Milenković (b. 1977, Belgrade) performed for US President Ronald Reagan at a Christmas concert in Washington, DC, at age 10. The following year, he played for Mikhail Gorbachev in Belgrade, Serbia. At age 14, he played for Pope John Paul II and at age 16, Milenkovich gave his 1,000th concert in Monterrey, Mexico.
He has performed at some of the world’s most celebrated venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Kennedy Center in Washington (USA). He has been named Serbia’s Artist of the Century, Most Humane Person, and Brand Personality of the Year.
His discography includes four commercial releases of the Italian label Dynamic, featuring J. S. Bach Complete Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, Complete Music for Solo Violin – Nicolo Paganini 24 Capricci, N. Paganini Recital, and N. Paganini In cuor piu non mi sento. He also released numerous recordings for the Yugoslavian label PGP.
Milenković plays a 1783 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin.
Profundis was founded three years ago with the aim to promote unique music and originality in all concert performances. It consists of prominent Macedonian musicians who are members of the National Opera and Ballet and the National Philharmonic orchestras. mr/
