SSM to stage protest on Labor Day
Skopje, 19 April 2023 (MIA) – The Council of the Federation of Trade Unions (SSM) has unanimously reached a decision to organize a Labor Day protest on May 1st under the motto “The Workers are the State”.
“We call all our sister unions, all workers and citizens, retirees, unemployed people and students to join us and support us. It is impermissible for public officials to get a 78% raise, and for the workers to get no raise,” according to the press release.
They point out that it’s impermissible for the workers’ dignity and right to appropriate working hours to be breached by implementing a 60-hour work week to fulfill the needs of bosses, officials and individuals.
The protest will begin May 1, 2023, at 12 PM in front of the SSM building in Skopje.
