Skopje, 18 November 2024 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi is paying Monday a working visit to the European Parliament in Brussels, where he will meet with European Parliament President, Roberta Metsola.

He is also scheduled to meet with EP rapporteur for North Macedonia, Thomas Waitz, and MEP Thijs Reuten, shadow rapporteur of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, said the assembly in a press release.

According to the agenda, upon an initiative of the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, Speaker Gashi will pay a working visit on Tuesday to the NATO HQ, joined by a delegation of MPs, including Nikola Micevski (VMRO-DPMNE), Oliver Spasovski (SDSM), Merita Kolci-Koxhaxhiku (Vredi), Arbana Pasholi (DUI), Pavle Arsovski (ZNAM), and the head of the Parliament Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Dragan Kovachki.

A meeting with Ambassador Boris Ruge, NATO Acting Deputy Secretary General and briefings with NATO top officials from the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division and Public Diplomacy Division are also scheduled.

Gashi’s visits to the two important international institutions aim at informing the EP and NATO top officials on current political and social developments in the country in the context of its EU integration path and the obligations stemming from NATO membership, said the press release.

“Our delegation will have the chance to be informed on the views and positions of its interlocutors on the current developments and future challenges of EP and NATO in the context of the enlargement policy, the expectations of the EU candidate countries and the NATO views in light of ongoing security challenges in the region and beyond,” said the Parliament’s press service.
