Skopje, 8 September 2025 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi extended Monday congratulations on the 34th anniversary of the country's independence, calling for unity around values and commitment in fulfilling its aspirations.

"Independence Day is a special moment, an opportunity to remind ourselves on the country's great achievements, recalling that independence is not just a gift but a legacy from the past, a commitment for the present and model for the future. This testimony is our task to build a strong, democratic and stable country, one in which every citizen will feel equal and respected," says Speaker Gashi in the note.

He adds it is time for everyone to contribute to the strengthening of peace, stability and coexistence, everyone to work together for a strong, just and unified country.

"It is only through unity and commitment that we can realize the vision for a brighter future of our country and future generations. North Macedonia, 34 years after declaring its independence, is a state that has made enormous progress in many aspects and gained international respect. As a stable NATO ally and European Union candidate, this is a time that requires us to continue with the efforts to build a safer and brighter future for future generations," says Gashi.
